Giramata is a community organizer and Ph.D. Candidate in the department of Gender and Women Studies whose work sits in the fields of Black feminist Studies, visual culture and critical trauma studies. Their research interests include developing a Black feminist reading practice that enables us to analyze Black feminist artistic representation of Black girls to address the possibilities of Black pleasure and joy in the afterlife of slavery and colonialism.
