iLGBT - The Institute for LGBT Studies is pleased to introduce Visiting Scholar, Lino Arruda

Thursday, September 22, 2016

Lino Arruda is an Institute for LGBT Studies Visiting Scholar for the 2016-2017 academic year from Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (Brasil), where he researches monstrosity and animality within travesti/trans* sudaca self-representations in countercultural settings. He collaborates on an autonomous distro called "Fracassando: edições precárias" (Failing: precarious editions), which is a project for archiving, producing, translating and distributing queer Latin American fanzines with a trans* and anti-speciest focus. With support from the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Grant, Lino is currently developing a fanzine/dissertation chapter entitled Monstrans: experiencing horrormones, in which he combines illustrations, autofictions and anthropocene theories in order to situate trans* sudaca embodiment in the (in)human spectrum. He looks forward to working with UA faculty including Eva Hayward, Susan Stryker, and Adela C. Licona.
