My name is Alice, and I take pictures of the many featherlegged orbweaver spiders (Uloborus glomosus) in my yard and house. On September 18, 2022, a male featherlegged orbweaver spider wandered into my house. He found the female featherlegged orbweaver spider already living inside, and the two began mating. Over the next month, the female spider started gaining weight. She was pregnant. On October 14, 2022, she laid an egg sac. The spiderlings hatched on November 13, 2022. My photographs document the journey of this spider family. These spiders are hardworking, productive pest controllers. By allowing them into my life, I shared many wonderful memories with them. Just like how I welcomed these spiders, those with marginalized identities deserve to be loved. We are stronger when we unite together.
