Casely E. Coan is a doctoral candidate in Rhetoric, Composition & the Teaching of English and Gender & Women’s Studies at the University of Arizona. Her research is situated at the intersection of performance studies, queer theory, transgender studies, and rhetoric. Her dissertation project explores how Tucson burlesque performers use burlesque to tell non-normative stories about their minoritarian subjectivities. Coan has media and book reviews in Queer Studies in Media and Popular Culture and Women's Rights: Reflections in Popular Culture. Under the stage name Lacy O’Ceans, she has been a burlesque performer in Tucson, AZ since 2015; she is a founding member and assistant producer for the Tucson Libertine League.
