About "Monstrans: Experiencing Hormones":
"If there is any intention of generating a productive dialogue between marginalized communities and educational institutions, I argue that it is necessary to expand the epistemes authorized by academic (cis)tems. In this research chapter I try out other formats, models and medias for making theory: combining illustrations, anthropocene theory and autoficctions, Monstrans: experiencing horrormones is a zine-chapter about travesti/trans* sudaca self-monstrifying narratives and imageries."
Lino Arruda is an Institute for LGBT Studies / Fulbright Visiting Scholar from Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (Brasil) where he researches monstrosity and animality within travesti/trans* sudaca self-representations in countercultural settings. Lino collaborates in an autonomous archive called "Fracassando: edições precárias" (Failing: precarious editions) that archives, produces, translates, and distributes kuir (queer) Latin American fanzines with a trans* and anti-speciest focus. With support from a Fulbright Visiting Scholar Grant, Lino is currently developing a fanzine/dissertation chapter titled "Monstrans: Experiencing Horrormones."
